“If Hungary stops supplying oil from Russia, we simply will not survive, we will not be able to feed the country in a broad sense. We simply will not be able to meet the demand for fuel…,” Mr. Szijjarto noted in an interview with the RBC TV channel.

The official explained that Hungary does not have sufficient alternative infrastructure. He believes that the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to stop the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline poses a ‘serious challenge’ to the Hungarian economy.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister drew attention to the fact that since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, the EU economic policy has become ‘overly politicised’, and European diplomats are considering fuel supply issues from the point of view of ideology.

“For us, the issues of reliable energy supply are topics that have nothing to do with politics or ideology, it is the country’s responsibility. And this is a matter of physical existence,” Mr. Szijjarto concluded.
