Switzerland refused re-export of arms to Ukraine
An initiative to re-export weapons from Switzerland to countries involved in military conflicts, including Ukraine, was rejected by the local national council, TASS reports
The Swiss Telegraph Agency noted that 135 deputies voted against the customs procedure, while only 48 parliamentarians were in favour.
“Deputies from left-wing parties and the right-wing conservative Swiss People’s Party (SNP) spoke out against modification of the conditions for arms re-export at a meeting of the national council,” TASS reports.
The organisation believes that relaxing re-export conditions contradicts the country’s neutrality. Leftists expressed the view that the proposed initiative was created to support arms manufacturers.
