Supreme State Council decree approved Union State budget for 2023
On December 26th, a decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State approved the budget of the Union State for 2023 – as reported by the Standing Committee of the Union State with reference to the State Secretary of the Union State, Dmitry Mezentsev, BelTA reports
The document was signed by the Chairman of the Supreme State Council, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
"The Union State programmes – traditionally funded from its budget – remain the priority ones. Eight such programmes are planned to be implemented in 2023. The most important tasks in the space sphere will be solved at the request of real sectors of the economy. Creation of unique spacecraft for remote sensing of the Earth is planned, making it possible to research the atmosphere and the Earth's surface. Electronics and microelectronics remain significant areas of bilateral co-operation,” Mr. Mezentsev said.
He stressed that due to the increasing importance of ensuring the security of the Union State, the creation of a number of military and border infrastructure facilities will be financed from the Union State budget. In addition, co-operation in the field of health protection will continue, research will be conducted on the development of technologies for membrane protection of the human body from viruses. Mr. Mezentsev added that the budget also envisages support of cultural, humanitarian and patriotic projects and 33 activities of the Union State. "The parties will continue to co-operate on the important topic of protecting the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, about the centuries-old joint history of our peoples," he said.
"Financing of programmes, projects and activities of the Union State, information support of the Union State construction will be provided in a timely manner, without delay, starting from January 2023,” the State Secretary informed.
As previously reported, on December 19th, when considering the draft budget of the Union State for 2023 at a session of the Parliamentary Assembly, it was announced that the revenue part of the budget would make 5 billion 966 million Russian Roubles – formed at the expense of contributions from Belarus and Russia, as well as unused funds of the 2022 Union State budget. The expenditure part is planned in the amount of 5 billion 67 million Russian Roubles, and the surplus will make 899m Russian Roubles.
Next year, 78 percent of the budget will be allocated to implement four programmes of the Union State, as well as thirty-three events. Another four draft programmes of the Union State enjoy a high degree of readiness. If they are adopted, the budget surplus funds will be allocated for the implementation of these programmes.
