The animal was heading from Belarus to Lithuania, but its attempt to overcome the European fence proved fatal. The moose died of blood loss on the Belarusian territory near the border posts.
As informed by the State Border Committee, 28 wild animals have died on the border with Lithuania since dangerous barriers were installed by the neighbouring country: 17 moose, 10 roe deer, and one deer.
In total, since September 2021, the Belarusian side has recorded 45 cases of animal deaths because of the border barriers of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
