Border guards found the dead animal on July 24th. The moose, trying to cross from the Belarusian side to the Latvian side, got entangled in a barbed trap and received deep fatal wounds.

“The fence erected by the neighbouring EU countries kills all living things. This is the 12th animal victim of the Latvian barbed wire, officially recorded by the Belarusian side,” the State Border Committee stressed.

It is noted that since the beginning of the construction of deadly barriers on the border with Belarus, 46 dead animals have been found.
