State Border Committee: five beaten refugees, including pregnant woman, found on Belarusian-Polish border

Belarusian border guards found five refugees, including a pregnant woman, in the Berestovitsa District of the Grodno Region, sb.by reports with reference to the State Border Committee

“The introduction of a buffer zone on the border with Belarus, the ban on refugee assistance and the work of the media in the border area make it possible for the Polish authorities to conceal crimes against foreigners. Among the recent victims of the Polish security forces are five refugees, including a woman. The beaten foreigners were found by Belarusian border guards in the Berestovitsa District on the border with Poland on August 23rd. They said that they had been detained in the adjacent territory and severely beaten. Before being pushed into the Belarusian territory, the Polish military beat them with gun butts and batons, struck them on heads and limbs, and intimidated with service dogs. The woman, who was in the group, felt unwell on the Polish side and asked for help. She said she was pregnant," the source revealed some details.

Belarusian border guards promptly called a medical team to help the refugees, and they were diagnosed with a broken leg, severe bruises of the upper and lower extremities, numerous hematomas, signs of pneumonia, general hypothermia and exhaustion. Three men and the woman were taken to the Berestovitsa District hospital.

An investigative task force worked at the scene to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"Since the beginning of the year, the actions of the Polish military on the border with Belarus have led to the deaths of four refugees," the State Border Committee informed.
