Spanish police seized 60m Euros of gold-made articles exported from Ukraine
Spanish law enforcement officers seized eleven gold-made articles in Madrid, the total value of which exceeds 60 million Euros. As reported by RIA Novosti, the jewellery – that is part of Ukraine’s historical heritage – has been taken out of the country illegally.
The Spanish police report clarifies that a total of five people were arrested: three Spaniards and two Ukrainians. It is noted that a criminal network – which illegally exported cultural values from the Ukrainian territory – was liquidated in that way.
"The first article was seized by investigators in 2021. It was a golden belt with the heads of sheep, which was kept in a safe in Madrid and which the main suspect sold privately to a Madrid businessman," the police said.
It is emphasised that the investigation was conducted in co-operation with the attachés for internal affairs in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Albania, Northern Macedonia and Cyprus, as well as with the Department of International Co-operation.
