The two sides discussed general issues of co-operation between the business circles of Belarus and the UAE, as well as the main events held through the interaction of chambers of commerce and industry, including at the level of regional chambers and the Belinterexpo exhibition enterprise.
The diplomat summed up some results of the work in the development of Belarusian-Emirati trade-economic relations during his diplomatic mission in Belarus, stressing that a range of projects have been successfully implemented, but at the same time there is still much to be done to unlock the potential of co-operation. “Despite the fact that there has been a record increase in the bilateral trade this year, it is still far from the figures announced by the leaders of the two countries,” Ibrahim Salim Mohammed Al-Musharrah said. According to him, Belarus and the UAE have achieved certain results in the areas of investment co-operation, security, and education. Promising areas also include transport, logistics and the use of the UAE as a hub for Belarus to enter the markets of other countries in the region; food security – the UAE is particularly keen on co-operation with Belarusian business in this area; and the opening of offices of Belarusian enterprises in the UAE, which is facilitated by the Emirati legislation.
In turn, the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry underlined the need to hold bilateral thematic events for business with the invitation of industry experts, as well as the prospect of participation of Belarusian enterprises in exhibition events in the UAE, which are platforms for establishing business ties with partners around the world.
Speaking about the development of liaisons through the BelCCI, Mikhail Myatlikov noted that agreements are currently being implemented with the UAE Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the chambers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah. It is planned to expand partnerships with other emirates. Moreover, the BelCCI Chairman informed about the beginning of co-operation with the AIM Congress, a partnership agreement with which was signed after a meeting on the sidelines of the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum this year. According to the signed document, the BelCCI has been granted a special status of ‘official support partner of the AIM Congress’ and will participate in the event in 2025.
The parties discussed the possibility of organising a visit of the Belarusian delegation to one or more emirates, as well as holding a national exposition in the UAE next year.
Summing up, the UAE Ambassador expressed readiness to assist in promoting Belarus’ potential and establishing bilateral business contacts, as well as to support the development of ties through chambers of commerce and industry.
