Shved at meeting with Defence Ministry’s leadership spoke about crimes against civilian refugees at border
Belarus’ Prosecutor General Andrei Shved has met with the Defence Ministry senior staff and officers and touched upon the topic of crimes committed against civilian refugees at the border – as reported on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Having touched upon the topic of genocide during the Great Patriotic War, the Prosecutor General proposed to trace the connection between times and mentioned other crimes, committed nowadays against the peace and security of mankind. In particular, Andrei Shved drew attention to the actions of Lithuania and Poland, whose officials – violating international treaties – systematically illegally deport foreign migrants trying to travel to EU member states from the territory of Belarus.
“Polish and Lithuanian border guards beat migrants, torture with electric shockers and tear gas, and set dogs on them. They do not look at the age, gender, or physical condition of poor people. They left an unconscious pregnant woman and a man with numerous bodily injuries near our border; in some cases, Belarusian doctors could only declare death,” underlined Andrei Shved.
