Shpakovsky: once again Belarus has made a sovereign choice
The Belarusians once again made a sovereign choice during the nationwide referendum on the amendments and additions to the Constitution – as stated by political analyst Aleksandr Shpakovsky during his talk with Alfa Radio
The nationwide referendum on the amendments and additions to the Constitution of Belarus was held on February 27th. According to preliminary results, 4,440,813 people, or 82.86 percent of those coming to the polling stations, voted in favour of amendments and additions to the country’s Basic Law.
“Once again, Belarus has made a sovereign choice,” said Mr. Shpakovsky. “It is important that we no longer try to please anyone. There was such a stage in our history, and it was justified. In order to understand something, it is necessary to try whether it works or not. We tried, we really tried to find a common language with these stiff, arrogant gentlemen from the European capitals, who consider themselves entitled to teach us something.”
However, now, as the expert noted, the collective West is putting pressure on our country, “We understand the colossal sanctions pressure on us and our allies. Certain forces are trying to simply wipe out the very concept of Russian civilisation from the face of the earth. We were the first to face this. When there were still some illusions in Moscow about the collective West, Belarus already experienced the regime of sanctions. Despite this, our country has been developing and we are demonstrating certain successes. It is very important!” summed up the expert.
