Sergeyenko's report to Head of State focused on Single Voting Day, Belarusian People’s Congress and personnel issues
The Head of the Belarus President Administration, Igor Sergeyenko, has shed light on some details of his report to the Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko
According to Mr. Sergeyenko, the election campaign and preparations for Single Voting Day were among the key topics of his report. “The President was informed on the current socio-political situation in the country, on the main trends in its development, as well as on the ongoing work with focus on the election campaign. By now, the formation of polling stations has almost completed, and the district commissions are currently checking all candidates for deputies. This work will be completed on January 30th, and an agitation campaign will start then – transiting to Single Voting Day on February 25th,” he said.
The Head of the President Administration added that all work on preparing for Single Voting Day is going on as normal and planned, “The Central Election Commission organises this work and makes recommendations to the district commissions. Everything is carried out in accordance with the calendar plan for the preparation and holding of Single Voting Day.”
Mr. Sergeyenko also presented the proposals to the Head of State on approaches to holding the first meeting of the Belarusian People's Congress: in accordance with the law, it is to be organised no later than April 25th.
“The Belarusian People’s Congress is preceded by serious preparations, a range of organisational measures that include the election of delegates, the formation of the agenda and other events,” Mr. Sergeyenko said, adding that Aleksandr Lukashenko was also interested in the work of the President Administration on the formation of the personnel register of the Head of State, the selection of candidates for civil service in accordance with the Personnel Policy Concept adopted in early 2024. “People are being prepared for appointment to higher positions in a number of ministries and local authorities, as well as heads of certain industrial enterprises. In short, the planned work is being carried out on the selection, study and subsequent appointment by the Head of State of those people who, according to their personal business qualities, deserve such a level of work,” he noted.
Touching upon the personnel issue, Mr. Sergeyenko stated that recruitment is one of the most difficult tasks, “Every manager who thinks about the future of his company, district, region, probably begins and ends his working day with this point: to notice and find talented people. There are many such people, and there are a lot of forms that can help distinguish a hard-working person from a talker and an attention seeker. I would not say that we observe a personnel shortage, though there are some employment-related problems with regard to certain positions.”
The Head of the President Administration stressed that approaches to working with personnel have been developed and defined, everything now depends on live work with people.
