Sergeyenko: Belarus ready to develop balanced relations with partners across various regions
Belarus is ready to develop balanced relations with partners across various regions of the world – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the eighth convocation of the National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko during his meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Belarus, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Madbuh, initiated by the Palestinian side to discuss issues of bilateral co-operation
“Our country stands for an equal dialogue – a fundamental principle for us. We’re ready to develop balanced relations with partners across various regions of the world. But, unfortunately, the world order is changing nowadays. We see how a seemingly frozen conflict – using the example of your region – can turn into a hot phase in the shortest possible time, which is currently difficult to overcome quickly enough. Today we can see firsthand the inability of leading international organisations to settle problems, and in some cases the reluctance of certain states to take effective measures to resolve the situation so that civilians do not die,” Igor Sergeyenko said.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives noted that today many people see how these states are pursuing a policy of sanctions. The policy of sanctions is expanding. In fact, a spiral of crises, tensions and further conflict situations is being provoked.
“Of course, unifying peace-loving initiatives – consonant with those offered to the world community by Belarus – are the only alternative in such a situation. We wish a speedy resolution of the situation that is developing. We are for this situation to be settled as soon as possible,” Igor Sergeyenko stressed.
