Sergeyenko: Belarus, China stand for co-operation of all countries in settling modern problems
Belarus and China oppose the use of force in international affairs, underlining the need for co-operation of all countries in tackling modern problems – as noted by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko during today’s meeting with Chen Zhou, the Deputy Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of China’s Communist Party
During the talks, Igor Sergeyenko recalled that mutual support in the international arena is the most important area of the bilateral interaction.
“Belarus’ peaceful foreign policy, openness and readiness for political dialogue with all countries are fully consistent with the global goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind – put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Belarus fully adheres to the One China principle, providing consistent support on the issues of Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Tibet and Taiwan,” Mr. Sergeyenko asserted.
China, in turn, supports Belarus’ efforts to maintain political stability and economic development while opposing outside interference in the country’s internal affairs.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives noted that at the next SCO Heads of State Council meeting in Astana on July 4th, 2024, Belarus will become a full member of the organisation, “We expect that on the sidelines of the summit the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss priority issues on the international and regional agenda.”
The deputy also underlined that the Belarus-China co-operation plan until 2030 is currently being prepared.
“The main approaches are planned to be discussed during a top-level meeting in July 2024 in Astana. Within the framework of their powers, deputies are ready to join in the development and discussion of the above-mentioned plan, alongside in its practical implementation, each in their own region. Expanding the range of our goods supplied to the Chinese market is an absolute interest for Belarus. For our part, we are ready to create all the necessary conditions for the activation and comfortable operation of Chinese business in the country and the organisation of production facilities manufacturing products with high added value. Over the years, you could be convinced that we are honest partners and are ready to provide any platforms for the development of joint high-quality projects,” the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly said.
