Serdyukov: 2024 CSTO exercises to be held on the territory of three states
The Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) exercises in 2024 will be held on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan – as stated at a briefing by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, BelTA reports
“This year, among the main joint training activities, it is planned to hold command and staff training with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF) Interaction-2024, special trainings with intelligence forces and means Search-2024, special trainings with logistical forces and means for the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) Echelon-2024 in September-October in the Central Asian collective security region on the territory of Kyrgyzstan,” Andrei Serdyukov stated.
The Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff also noted that an operational gathering with the command of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the Central Asian region and a joint exercise with the units of the Central Asian CRDF Rubezh-2024 are planned on the territory of Tajikistan. It is planned to work out tasks for the destruction of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.
“A command and staff training with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces Indestructible Brotherhood-2024 has been planned on the territory of Kazakhstan, during which it is planned to work out tasks for the preparation and conduct of a peacekeeping operation, as well as tasks of post-conflict settlement,” Andrei Serdyukov added.
Thus, by the end of the year, the algorithm for making and implementing collective decisions on the use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system would be fully worked out. The practice of involving representatives of defence departments, basic educational, methodological and research organisations to study current problems of the development of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system will continue. Work will also continue to improve co-operation and invite third countries to participate in joint exercises.
“Moreover, during the active phases of the exercises, it is planned that representatives of non-CSTO member countries, international organisations and military-diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will participate as observers,” Andrei Serdyukov summarised.
