Senator: Belarusian practices to reduce maternal and child mortality widely used in Uzbekistan
The Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and Health of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Odiljon Iminov, explained on the side-lines of the 2nd Uzbek-Belarusian Women's Business Forum how co-operation develops between the two countries in the areas he oversees
“Although the current forum is declared as women's one, it is taking place within the framework of the visit of the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic. Therefore, issues of inter-parliamentary co-operation in various fields are on the agenda. Among them are the ones in the fields of science, education and healthcare, we have signed a number of agreements already. In healthcare, we use Belarusian practice to reduce maternal and child mortality. About 300 of our specialists have trained in clinics in Belarus. Together with our Belarusian colleagues, we are fighting this problem, and in the Kashkadarya Region, for example, we have managed to reduce maternal and child mortality several fold,” the Uzbek politician noted.
