Sabalenka, Azarenka retained their positions in WTA ranking
In anticipation of the start of the main draw of the US Open, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has published an updated world ranking
Both Belarusians, in the top-20, have retained their places: Aryna Sabalenka is still the second racket of the world while Victoria Azarenka is placed 18th. Meanwhile, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, after failing to defend her rating points for last year’s finals at the Cleveland tournament, retreated immediately by 24 positions and is now placed only 92nd.
The leadership was retained by Poland’s Iga Swiatek, followed by Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus), Jessica Pegula (USA), Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), Ons Jabeur (Tunisia), Coco Gauff (USA), Caroline Garcia (France), Maria Sakkari (Greece), Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) and Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic).
In the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals, Ilia Ivashka lost four positions and dropped out of the top-100, being now in 103rd place.
As far as the top-10 is concerned, it now looks like this: Carlos Alcaraz (Spain), Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Daniil Medvedev (Russia), Holger Rune (Denmark), Casper Ruud (Norway), Jannik Sinner (Italy), Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece), Andrey Rublev (Russia), Taylor Fritz (USA), and Francis Tiafoe (USA).
