Russian Foreign Ministry commented on calls to isolate ‘disloyal Russians’ in Latvia
The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the statement of the Latvian President Egils Levits who called to isolate Russian-speaking residents disloyal to state policy, RIA Novosti reports
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called Levits’ statements absolutely unacceptable. The diplomat added that such statements ‘violate all generally accepted moral, ethical and humanitarian norms’.
Maria Zakharova expressed hope that ‘representatives of international human rights structures will finally find the courage and adherence to principles to assess such statements by the head of the Latvian state’.
Earlier, it was reported that the Czech Republic will suggest the EU to suspend the simplified visa regime for Russians.
