Russian deputy: Belarus is the only state that managed to withstand attacks from the West
Despite the enormous pressure from the West in 2020 and earlier, Belarus has managed to stand its ground and remain a sovereign and independent state with its own path of development – as noted by Maria Butina, a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in her talk with the ONT TV channel

“Belarus is the only country that has withstood such attacks from the West. Actually, it was not just the year 2020. I have counted thirteen attempted coups when people were taken to the streets,” the deputy said. “Actually, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, and your society did an amazing job as they managed to fight back. It was where the roots of your partisan country manifested themselves! I do not know all the details, but I can state for sure that nowhere else there has been such a pressure that was exerted on you. They [Western centres] were breaking, buying, working very aggressively against you. I know how much money was poured into that, but Belarus has survived! No one else has done what your country did then. Moreover, you were even able to maintain a dialogue [with the West] until recently, but it was necessary to put an end to it after 2020. It is the same in Russia. [We are making] the last, 155th, warning. Each time we look into their [Westerners’] soul in a hope that there may be something humane there.”
