Russian Ambassador: US launched disinformation campaign in its media regarding Kakhovka HPP incident
The United States media has launched a disinformation campaign around the incident at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant – as stated by the Russian Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, RIA Novosti reports
The diplomat noted that the US authorities are trying to blame Russia in the current situation. “There have been a lot of insinuations that Russia allegedly blown up the most important infrastructure facility,” he stressed.
According to Mr. Antonov, American officials adhere to the rhetoric that Moscow should be responsible for all incidents that occur during the conflict in Ukraine. “There is another desperate attempt to ‘whitewash’ the Kiev regime, which has been deliberately shelling the station for many months," he added.
On the night of June 5th-6th, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, as a result of which its upper part was destroyed, and uncontrolled water discharge began. The Head of the Administration of the Novokakhovka City District, Vladimir Leontiev, blamed the Kiev regime for the destruction of the facility.
