Sabalenka remained 2nd in WTA ranking
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has published an updated world ranking, with Aryna Sabalenka placed second – still higher of all female Belarusian tennis players
Victoria Azarenka has risen two positions and is now the 21st racket of the planet while Aliaksandra Sasnovich has dropped one line and is now only 131st.
Poland’s Iga Swiatek retains the leadership, followed by Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus), Jessica Pegula (US), Coco Gauff (US), Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), Jasmine Paolini (Italy), Zheng Qinwen (China), Emma Navarro (US), Danielle Collins (US) and Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic).
It should be noted that compared to the previous version of the ranking, Rybakina and Paolini lost one position each, and Gauff, after her triumph at a major tournament in Beijing, moved from sixth place to fourth.
In the near future, the attention of women’s tennis fans will be focused on the Chinese city of Wuhan, where competitions from the WTA 1000 category have already begun. In particular, Aryana Sabalenka plans to compete for the title, who – as seeded first – will skip the starting round and begin her performance from the 1/16 finals.
