The two sides have discussed the tasks set in June during the meeting of Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko with the Voronezh Region Governor, including the achievement of $1bn in mutual trade.
The Ambassador and the Russian governor have agreed to develop co-operation in industry.
“Aleksandr Rogozhnik suggested trying together (on a 50/50 basis) to create something unique and interesting in the region in terms of industrial co-operation, e.g., to localise the production of our Pozhsnab fire trucks with the prospect of developing other base equipment on the MAZ chassis. The sides have also agreed to promptly study the issue, including taking into account the demand of neighbouring regions, the use of the offset contracts tool,” the press service reported.
The two parties have also agreed to activate the joint working group on the development of co-operation, which is headed by Deputy PM Anatoly Sivak from the Belarusian side. A meeting is expected to be held in Voronezh and a business mission from Belarus is expected to respond.
