Rogozhnik: Industry Ministry to focus on African and Asian markets

Diversification of export supplies is currently the main task facing the Industry Ministry – as noted by Belarus’ Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik

“Last year we did well both in terms of production volumes and exports. At the same time, deliveries to Russia accounted for more than 90 percent of total exports. Over the last three years, we have expanded exports for almost all groups of goods. However, diversification is the main task set nowadays by both the President and the Government. We’ve done a lot of work on the markets of South America and Central America. We are now fostering all our efforts to the markets of Africa and Asia, where there’re very good prospects.”

He also noted good prospects for working in the Uzbekistan market, “We worked well in Uzbekistan – as confirmed by Belarus President’s visit to this country. Contracts worth over $140 million were signed.”

Aleksandr Rogozhnik expressed confidence that this year will be decisive, showing that the Industry Ministry can work in other markets, “We set ourselves the task of reorienting 25 percent of our total exports to the markets that I mentioned above.”
