River cruises season in Pripyatsky National Park starts on March 23rd
The season of river cruises starts in the Pripyatsky National Park on March 23rd, the environmental protection agency reports
“Starting from March 23rd, we will open the cruise season on the Kirill Turovsky and Polonaise motor ships along the Pripyat River. Such trips are a wonderful way for people of all ages and interests to spend time and enjoy the nature of Polesie,” the national park informed.
The working hours of the motor ships are daily from 9am to 18pm. The place of departure is the pier on the territory of the historical and cultural complex Open Air Museum.
The national park added that during the water trip, people may take the services of a tour guide.
In addition, the kayaking season has already begun in the Pripyatsky National Park.
“The kayaking season is open. It is in spring that the legendary Sea of Herodotus appears in the south of Belarus, and you have a chance to see this miracle of nature by kayaking through the flooded forest. Our experienced guides will take an exclusive route through the protected areas of the park, where century-old oaks and willows grow, to make the trip unforgettable,” the national park noted.
Kayaking takes place every weekend. The number of seats is limited, so the specialists of the Pripyatsky National Park make a preliminary registration for water trips.
The Pripyatsky National Park is located in the south of Belarus – in the Polesie geographical region, in the interfluve of Pripyat, Stviga, and Ubort. Administratively, it is located on the territory of the Zhitkovichi, Lelchitsy and Petrikov districts of the Gomel Region. The landscape basis of the park is formed by forests, which, together with swamps and floodplain-river complexes, occupy about 95 per cent of the area. In the floodplain, there is a high diversity and abundance of ungulates, semi-aquatic and predatory animals, and various species of birds (gulls, ducks, herons, owls, ospreys, short-toed snake eagles, woodpeckers, and many others). Pripyat and oxbow lakes are rich in fish.
