Record number of tourists expected in Turkiye in 2024
Turkiye expects to welcome 60 million tourists this year, TASS reports
Speaking in Ashgabat at an event dedicated to the potential of the Turkish tourism industry, Ahmet Demirok, the Ambassador of Turkiye to Turkmenistan, said, “According to the World Tourism Organisation, the country was visited by more than 50 million tourists in 2022, ranking fourth in the world. In 2023, Turkiye reached record levels in the tourism sector, welcoming 56.7 million tourists and generating revenue of $54.3bn.” According to the diplomat, new records are likely in 2024: 60m tourists and $60bn in revenue.
Ahmet Demirok noted that each Turkish region can now offer an opportunity to organise various events for tourists all year round. He added that the developed infrastructure makes it possible to welcome a large number of visitors.
