Putin: Belarus-Russia trade-economic relations developing in best possible way
Trade-economic relations between Belarus and Russia are developing in the best possible way – as noted by Russian President Vladimir Putin during today’s meeting with Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko in the Kremlin
Welcoming his Belarusian counterpart, Vladimir Putin noted, “Now there is an opportunity to talk about the development of our bilateral relations, about the Union State construction. We often meet with you. The dynamics are significant. Our trade-economic relations are developing in the best possible way, at a good pace. According to our statistics, the volume of trade stands at $46.5bn. Russia is ranked first in terms of direct investments into Belarus’ economy: $4.5bn. We continue to develop liaisons in the field of industrial co-operation and agriculture. In the last year and a half, we have been actively engaged in microelectronics, and now opportunities are opening up in the aviation industry.”
Vladimir Putin stressed that since Soviet times Belarus has been called the assembly shop of the USSR, “Thanks to your efforts, Belarus has retained these advantages in the economy, so we have the opportunity to jointly move in all directions, complementing each other.”
