According to the news agency’s correspondent, the action was organised in Madrid’s central square, with the protesters calling for the resignation of the head of the autonomous community’s government, Carlos Mazón.

“The Valencia authorities have shown that they are unable to respond in a timely and effective manner to a crisis situation like the one caused by the storm,” one of the demonstrators told a TASS reporter. “This is a real negligence.”

The protest in Madrid took place in parallel with a large march in the city centre of Valencia. The organisers of the march believe that regional authorities ‘have demonstrated a serious lack of ability and effectiveness to deal with any type of crisis’.

The storm and subsequent floods began in different regions of Spain on October 29th. The autonomous community of Valencia was the worst affected.
