Procedures for foreign citizens’ employment toughened in Lithuania
Lithuania will tighten the procedure for hiring foreigners, TASS reports with reference to the Interior Ministry
The Lithuanian Interior Ministry said in a statement, “Recently, there has been a trend when newly registered but inactive firms apply for a residence permit for foreigners whom they allegedly intend to employ. In reality, these persons are transferred by them to other economic entities."
According to the new employment procedure, in cases of established fictitious activities or the absence of any activity at all, firms will not be able to apply for permission to employ foreign citizens in Lithuania within six months. In such cases, applications for the issuance of a residence permit to foreigners will also not be accepted from firms.
