“Since January 1st, Russia has been acting as the presiding country in the CIS. In January 2024, at a meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives, the concept of the Russian presidency and an implementation plan with more than 150 points were officially presented. The work has already begun. In order to implement the concept, a number of issues of co-operation in the CIS format were considered at today's meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives. First of all, this is the course of implementation of the initiatives expressed by the heads of delegations at the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Heads of Government, the Council of Heads of State on co-operation in the field of security, countering terrorism and organised crime,” Andrei Grozov stated.
According to Andrei Grozov, special attention will be paid to issues of foreign policy co-operation within the framework of the Commonwealth, with an emphasis on developing common approaches to topical international and regional problems, conducting multi-level inter-ministerial consultations of states – the CIS member states and issues of further expanding the international positioning of the Commonwealth and increasing its international prestige, primarily through the development and deepening of co-operation with interested friendly states and international organisations in the light of the decision on the status of CIS Observer Country and the status of CIS Partner Country adopted last year by the heads of state.
