Presidential candidates to start campaign appearances on TV, radio
Candidates for the office of the President of the Republic of Belarus are going to start their campaign appearances on TV and radio, CEC informed
Belarus’ Central Election Commission (CEC) registered five Presidential candidates: the current President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chairman of the Republican Labour and Justice Party, Aleksandr Khizhnyak, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Oleg Gaidukevich, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, Sergei Syrankov. The draw of TV and radio slots for the candidates’ campaign appearances took place on December 23rd.
The First National Channel of the Belarusian radio will broadcast the candidates’ campaign addresses as follows:
January 8th: Mr. Gaidukevich, Mr. Khizhnyak;
January 10th: Ms. Kanopatskaya, Mr. Syrankov;
January 15th: Mr. Syrankov, Ms. Kanopatskaya;
January 17th: Mr. Gaidukevich, Mr. Khizhnyak.
The broadcast time is 8 to 9am. Each address must be under 30 minutes long.
The Belarus 1 TV channel will air candidates’ campaign addresses as follows:
January 9th: Ms. Kanopatskaya, Mr. Syrankov, Mr. Khizhnyak, Mr. Gaidukevich;
January 16th: Mr. Khizhnyak, Ms. Kanopatskaya, Mr. Syrankov, Mr. Gaidukevich.
The broadcast time is 6 to 8pm. Each address must be under 30 minutes long.
The fifth Presidential candidate, the current President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, chose not to do campaign appearances on TV or radio.
The propaganda stage of the electoral campaign will last till January 25th. The election of the President of the Republic of Belarus is scheduled for January 26th, 2025.
