Polish truckers’ protest caused damage to Ukraine worth hundreds of millions of Euros
Due to the blocking of the Ukrainian border by Polish carriers, Ukraine suffered economic damage of at least 400m euros – as noted by Vice-President of the Ukrainian Association of International Road Carriers Volodymyr Balin, RIA Novosti reports
Previously, Polish carriers blocked automobile checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, demanding to restore the previously cancelled system of permits for Ukrainian commercial carriers with exceptions for humanitarian aid and supplies for the AFU, the suspension of licenses for companies set up in Ukraine after February 2024, their inspection, and the separation of queues of empty and loaded vehicles.
The movement of cargo vehicles is difficult at three checkpoints on the border with Poland: Korczowa–Krakovets, Hrebenne-Rava Ruska and Dorohusk-Jagodin.
“The situation is really critical. “I’m not ready to say how other industries are suffering, although, according to the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, our economy has already suffered damage of over 400m Euros,” Volodymyr Balin noted.
According to him, the losses of Ukrainian carriers based on lost profitability amount to 350 Euros per downtime per day.
