Polish farmer protests supported by majority of citizens surveyed
Farmer protests, including blocking roads and holding pickets and marches across Poland, are backed by the majority of citizens surveyed in the country, TASS reports
According to the results of a survey by the IBRIS Institute for Social and Market Research commissioned by the newspaper Rzeczpospolita, 72 percent of respondents declared their support for farmers. At the same time, 51.6 percent noted that they support farmers ‘strongly’, and 21.2 percent reported that they back them ‘in principle’.
About 10 percent of those polled expressed their disagreement with the actions of national agricultural producers, while the rest of the survey participants stated that they had no opinion on this issue.
CEO at IBRIS Institute for Social and Market Research Marcin Duma commented on the survey results, “Supporting the [farmer] demonstrations is a form of expressing a negative attitude towards the European Green Deal policy and a safe way of expressing anti-Ukrainian sentiments.”
The IBRiS Centre survey was conducted from March 23rd-24th throughout Poland among 1,067 adults.
