The Polish Press Agency (PAP) stated that, according to a report by the Polish Ministry of Finance on the 20th anniversary of the country's participation in the EU, Warsaw has received 245.5bn Euros from Brussels since 2004, and Polish contributions for this time amounted to 83.7bn Euros. In total, the EU has spent 161.8bn Euros net on Poland over 20 years. Two-thirds of Brussels' financial injections were spent on modernising Poland's energy and transport infrastructure, while the rest were allocated within the framework of the EU's common agricultural policy.

In early March, the European Commission decided to unblock up to 137bn Euros from the EU budget for Poland in response to the start of reforms to ensure the independence of the judicial system in the country. Warsaw will receive about 59.8bn Euros from the pandemic recovery fund and 76.5bn Euros from the so-called unity funds.
