German Defence Minister advocates increasing country’s military spending
German Defenсe Minister Boris Pistorius said the country needs to increase its military spending, TASS reports
Boris Pistorius noted that ‘war can be prevented by those who are prepared for it’. At the same time, he said that financing of military spending ‘is going in the right direction’. According to him, €72bn will be allocated for the development of the armed forces – the largest amount in the entire history of the Bundeswehr.
Pistorius also said that NATO’s defence spending target of 2 percent of GDP will be reached in 2024, adding that ‘the defence budget will have to be constantly increased even after the €100bn special fund for the Bundeswehr is exhausted’.
