Petrishenko: social benefits, salaries are paid in full in Belarus’ public sector
The basic principles of the Belarusian Government’s work remain unchanged and are focused on people, their needs and interests – as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko at a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic
According to Mr. Petrishenko, the Belarusian Government is taking systematic measures to ensure stable and sustainable development of the social sphere against the current difficult conditions caused primarily by external pressure, “The basic principles of our work remain unchanged and are focused on people, their needs and interests. In its social block, the Government’s major efforts are concentrated on achieving the set indicators of socio-economic development and our strategic priorities aimed at strengthening human capital.”
The Deputy Prime Minister reported, “This year, the consolidated budget expenditures on the social sphere are set to make Br22.7bn – to exceed Br42bn jointly with the funds of the social protection fund, or 25 percent of GDP. All social benefits, pensions, allowances and salaries are paid on time and in full in the public sector. From March 1st, the Government has been implementing an advanced schedule for raising the basic wage rate for state employees, and the measures taken have made it possible to ensure a 15 percent increase in salaries. We plan to consider the issue of another salary increase in the public sector no later than September 2022.”
