Peskov: Warsaw's statement that USSR did not liberate Poland is monstrous lie
The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, called Warsaw's statements that the Soviet Union did not liberate Poland from fascists a monstrous lie, RIA Novosti reports
"This is a lie, a monstrous lie, because so many citizens of the Soviet Union died then. Citizens of the Russian Federation and other republics that were then part of the Soviet Union died while liberating Poland. Therefore, this is a monstrous lie. This is another attempt to continue to fool the younger generation of Poles, to bring them up by accumulating this lie and provoking hatred of Russians," the Kremlin representative said on being asked how Moscow treats loud statements coming from the Polish capital that, in 1945, the USSR did not bring freedom to Poland.
Mr. Peskov expressed hope that history will show the wrongness of this. "It’s probably even impossible to treat it differently,” he added.
