Pertsov: Belarus’ President set specific propaganda and counter-propaganda related tasks

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has set specific tasks for organising work in relation to propaganda and counter-propaganda – as stated by Vladimir Pertsov, who has been appointed Deputy Head of the President Administration today, BelTA reports

"The information war and the hybrid war that is being waged against our country by a group of Western states have not gone away. They are testing the ground, looking for new channels to influence our people – primarily, through various digital and synthetic technologies and centres of information and psychological operations, as well as by the so-called media-like bloggers and others who, using social networks, are attempting to reach the hearts our people, make fools of them and cause certain negative emotions. To achieve this, we must actively apply the methods that we have learned over the past three or four years: these are the methods of effective counter-propaganda to the lies that are being poured from abroad in relation to our country, the historical truth, and our President," Mr. Pertsov said.

The Deputy Head stressed that it is also important to effectively convey to people all the good things that are being done in the country, to promote cultural and historical values. “We have something to be proud of. We have achievements and the memory that have been preserved since our ancestors’ times. We are the descendants of the Great Patriotic War winners, and we must remember that. When we start forgetting this, then someone else is beginning to steal this truth,” he said.

Mr. Pertsov added that much had been done in the last 30 years of Belarus' independence. In this regard, it is enough to compare the situation in the country in the early 1990s, when sometimes there were not even basic food supplies, and the present state of affairs. He believes the most important task now is to reach people's hearts through all possible channels of interaction: the media, social networks and various platforms, including cinema.
