Pakistan notes growth in number of terrorist attacks on its territory

Pakistan continues to face an increase in the number of terrorist attacks, TASS reports with reference to the Dawn newspaper

The newspaper refers to the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, according to which 59 terrorist attacks occurred in the country in August this year, which is 21 more than in the same period a year earlier.

The provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (29) and Balochistan (28) were mostly affected by the attacks by extremists. Moreover, two terrorist attacks took place in Punjab. As a result of these events, at least 84 people were killed and 166 more were injured.

During the reporting period, 12 counter-terrorism operations were conducted in Pakistan, within the framework of which 88 militants were eliminated. At least 15 soldiers and three policemen were killed in clashes with extremists.
