Order portfolio of US and EU leading defence companies reached record high

By late 2023, eight major corporations of the military-industrial complex of the United States and the European Union countries received orders for the production of weapons and ammunition – worth about $750bn – the highest level in the history of the industry, TASS reports with reference to the leading Japanese economic newspaper Nikkei

The newspaper, which provides such data, refers to the calculations of its experts and information from international research centres.

It is noted that eight largest corporations of the military-industrial complex of the US and the EU – in response to a record increase in orders – will invest $10.5bn in expanding production this year. According to Nikkei, this is also the highest level in history. The volume of such investments is over 30 percent higher than in 2019 and 8 percent higher than in 2023.

The publication links the increase in the production of weapons with military supplies to Ukraine, as well as with the situation in the Middle East.
