Orda: referendum is a very important step forward
The nationwide referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution is an important step forward – as stated by the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Mikhail Orda, in the studio of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, which is housed by the public information centre for monitoring the referendum
“The Constitution today is a guideline that influences all further legal documents that will be adopted. Changes and additions [to the Constitution] come from life. Therefore, the draft adopted today at the referendum is a very important step forward,” Mikhail Orda drew attention.
According to the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions, the high turnout at the nationwide referendum indicates that Belarusians support the draft Constitution.
“This activity was also seen during early voting, when whole families came. Of course, I would like to note the well-coordinated work of the commissions. They are very professional, there are no complaints against them. When there are any questions, they always find answers to them and try to help,” noted Mr. Orda.
The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions particularly thanked observers.
“43,000 observers have been accredited. Together with public associations, a composition was formed of the active core, which today works at the sites. Preliminary training of observers was carried out, since they must know both rights and obligations, as well as the Electoral Code,” underlined Mikhail Orda.
The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions noted that during the days of the referendum, there were no serious violations in the work.
