Opinion: SCO, BRICS objectively oppose neo-colonial system of global economy imposed by the West

There would be no BRICS without the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation since the latter has become an international community of the states that are objectively a core of opposition to the American-centric world – as noted by Yuri Shevtsov, Director of the Centre for European Integration, sb.by reports

“The emergence of this core meant the emergence of its periphery: BRICS. For example, the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation cannot create a single currency system that would be an alternative to the US Dollar. Meanwhile, it is the most discussed topic within BRICS, because this organisation unites a much larger number of countries. Actually, many states – for example, in South Africa – are not ready for such a deep degree of interaction within SCO, and BRICS is accordingly becoming a shell for the core in the form of SCO. Moreover, both SCO and BRICS – which objectively oppose the neo-colonial system of the planet's economy imposed by the West – have a group of states that are most integrated with each other: i.e. the Eurasian Economic Union and the Union State. They are not directly related to SCO and BRICS, but still everything here is interconnected,” Mr. Shevtsov explained.
