Opinion: Europe admitting its own insolvency today
Citizens of European countries today look at Belarus with envy – as noted by Aleksandr Lukyanov, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), in his talk with Alfa Radio
The expert believes that the European authorities are simply mocking their own citizens, citing Poland as an example.
“The election campaign that took place in Poland was very difficult, including the notorious referendum and the question regarding the fence, whose construction cost taxpayers billions of Euros and which they proposed to remove. This is a speculative topic. It’s necessary to respect the citizens of the country that you, the Polish authorities, lead. Once you thought it was necessary, now you are discussing it, then you will build something up there… it would be better for you to invest in the creation of normal conditions for refugees and social measures, as is done, e.g., in Belarus,” said Aleksandr Lukyanov.
According him, citizens of European countries see that people live better in Belarus, and therefore wonder who the sanctions were actually imposed on.
“Poles, Latvians and Lithuanians post video in TikTok, e.g., where they compare gas filling stations in their home countries and those in Belarus, as well as prices for fuel. Who were sanctioned? People themselves are already asking this question in Europe. Who were sanctioned? Belarus and Russia, Eastern Europe are developing normally, while they have refugees, constant catastrophes, and protesters taking to the streets. It isn’t just three people walking around with some flag: ten, twenty, thirty thousand protesters come out there... Look at the complex agenda of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and what’s happening now in ‘civilised’ Europe. This process is no longer controllable. Its controllability is decreasing every day. Europe is admitting its own insolvency. The deadlocked policy threatens the existence of the EU itself, and Europeans understand this. Belarus is not just an island of peace and stability; it is a unique country in which all peoples coexist. Citizens of neighbouring states look at us with envy,” concluded Aleksandr Lukyanov.
