Opinion: Belarus actively involved in new world order formation – doing this in its own peculiar way
Revolutionary events are taking place around the globe, and the world order is being rebuilt, while Belarus is doing everything to make the world better – as noted by political expert Aleksei Dzermant
The expert stressed that the ongoing global events can be called revolutionary, since the entire world order is being rebuilt. “If we compare the 1917 revolution and the present events, then we will certainly see differences. After all, more than a century ago, the revolution was caused by blatant social and national inequality and imperialist wars that led to the formation of Europe, Russia and the whole of the world,” he explained.
Mr. Dzermant noted that, at present, Russia is again at the forefront of history, making a geopolitical revolution. It has rebelled as the state and the nation against the unjust world order and the neo-colonial policy of the West. “The events in Ukraine should be perceived in this way, because the West has actually turned it [Ukraine] into an instrument of struggle against Russia and into a territory where social, biological and psychological experiments are taking place. Russian President Vladimir Putin said recently that it is necessary to resist colonialism," the expert added.
According to Mr. Dzermant, for Belarus and Belarusians, this is not just a theory or high geopolitics that have nothing to do with reality. This is the practice of life: Belarus has been defending its right to sovereignty and independence in the fight against Western pressure for almost thirty years.
“The West seeks to exploit not only the rest of the world, but also its own population and even its individual parts. We see perfectly well that relations between Europe and the United States are not at all equal. We see how the Americans are exploiting European strategic weakness and short-sightedness. It is noticeable how completely brazenly they are bringing down the economy and energy of the EU through sabotage and conflicts. Western elites are now alien and hostile to the social and national interests not only of non-Western countries, but also of the majority of their own population. Therefore, the idea of a new international is in the air. It will take a new form, but we already see its prototype in the SCO and BRICS formats, which an increasing number of countries are striving to join," the expert stated.
Mr. Dzermant concluded that Belarus is also actively involved in the formation of a new world, though doing this in a particularly Belarusian way – ‘not through a world conflagration, but through its creative work’. “We are doing everything we can to make the world a better place, but we are doing this in our own way – as we see it and as we know how,” he stressed.
