According to CTV channel, the Canadian government may announce this as early as this week, presenting new rules for the large-scale saturation of the country’s market with electric vehicles.

Moreover, the Canadian authorities propose to introduce quotas on sales of cars with electric motors from 2026, which should account for at least 20 percent of all vehicle sales. By 2030, this quota may increase to 60 percent, and from 2035, sales of cars with internal combustion engines will be ceased in Canada.

Last year, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said the federal government was going to encourage people to buy electric vehicles and invest in the infrastructure to service them. It is planned to allocate at least 2.9bn Canadian Dollars (at that time $2.31bn) for these purposes.
