Novak: Turkiye considering roadmap on gas hub with Russia
Russia has drafted and submitted to Turkiye a roadmap on the creation of a gas hub, which Ankara is studying, TASS reports
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak said in an interview with RT Arabic, “This project is being discussed now, a roadmap has been drafted and it has been submitted to Turkish partners. They are studying it now. As soon as it is signed it will be implemented as planned.”
The Russian Deputy PM also said that the project is aimed primarily at creating an electronic gas trading platform in Turkiye.
“There are many suppliers there, including Russia, one of the biggest ones, though there are many consumers as well, including Turkiye and European countries. Its own electronic trading platform should obviously be there, electronic commerce that forms price quotations,” Novak explained.
In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed creating a hub on Turkish territory to which the lost volume of gas transit through Nord Stream would be redirected. Ankara responded that from the point of view of infrastructure in the country, almost everything is ready for the implementation of the hub project, but amendments to the legislation are required. The first legislative decisions were agreed upon in early April. They concerned the activities of the Turkish oil and gas company Botas and other suppliers.
