NOC Vice President on admission of Belarusians to international competitions: we’re in constant touch with IOC

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus is in constant touch with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) – as stated by NOC Vice President Dmitry Dovgalenok, sb.by reports with reference to the NOC Telegram channel

“Belarus’ NOC is in constant touch with the IOC, we are constantly communicating, trying to move the situation with the admission of Belarusian athletes to international competitions,” Dmitry Dovgalenok said, adding that the Belarusian side is always open to dialogue.

“We underlined this, showing that sport should be outside politics,” the NOC Vice President added.

According to him, the international winter sports federations have not yet made a final decision on Belarusians.

“As for summer sports, the situation is not bad so far. Our athletes are allowed to participate in all competitions except athletics,” Mr. Dovgalenok stated, noting that the World Athletics Head opposes this.

The NOC Vice President expressed the opinion that the decision on Belarus will depend on the results of the IOC presidential election – to be held in March 2025.

“When the election campaign begins (it has already started in the IOC), there is a certain lull, and everyone will be watching where the wind will blow,” Mr. Dovgalenok summed up.
