Lukashenko announced big conversation on results of work of commission that inspects Belarus’ NAS
During his today’s working trip to the Shklov District of the Mogilev Region, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko announced a big conversation on the results of the work conducted by the commission that inspects the activities of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus
The Head of State visited the Alexandriyskoye JSC cornfield, where he was reported on the yield of corn for grain of domestic and foreign varieties. Addressing the scientists responsible for breeding, the Belarusian leader warned, “We will ‘skin you alive’, as people say. You have to give a result! You promised lodging resistance [of grain crops], the highest yield, etc. We will figure it out in the near future: a commission of scientists is checking the Academy of Sciences in the most serious way. I want to draw a conclusion on personnel: is it possible to work with these heads of institutions or not. So we will talk about all these issues, and you should be ready [to give a report] on all crops.”
The permanent working group on the analysis of the NAS activities was established by the Presidential decree in June this year. It consists of independent competent experts, reputable scientists with deep knowledge, high qualifications, significant experience in the scientific field and the public administration system. Chairman of Belarus’ State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov was appointed its head.
The working group studies the issues of practice-oriented and effectiveness of scientific research and development by the NAS scientists, the introduction of developments in the sectors of the economy and social sphere, analyses the development of import-substituting products and technologies, the export of sci-tech goods.
At a meeting with the working group analysing the NAS activities in the Palace of Independence on July 30th, Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined, “The final meeting will be held at the end of the year, when the commission will finish its work and present the first report. Based on the results of this report, we will make appropriate decisions.”
