"I observe no need (for mobilisation), as well as the introduction of martial law," Mr. Klimov said.

According to the official, foreign journalists most often ask about possible mobilisation in Russia. "I think they have received an order and will accordingly constantly raise this topic through questions," he explained.

Mr. Klimov stressed that the issue is not only how many military personnel are in a particular area of hostilities. "We are talking about the extent to which we can use the military means available to us," he noted.

The senator added that Russia's opponents have long wanted military mobilisation to begin in the country and martial law to be imposed. In this case, people would become outraged, and ‘they [opponents] would get what they want, since they are working to achieve this’. However, the authorities are striving to consolidate society.
