New Zealand to allocate $1.2bn for transition to clean energy
The New Zealand Government will allocate $1.2bn to finance the transition of the country's energy system to supply from renewable sources, TASS reports
New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins stated that a special fund with $1.2bn in funding will be created to ensure the full transition to renewable sources.
“The New Zealand Government will co-operate with one of the world's largest investors in climate infrastructure and environmentally friendly technologies in order for it to become the first country in the world to receive 100 percent of energy from renewable sources,” Mr. Hipkins said.
The PM added that the world is now facing the consequences of climate change, so investments in environmentally friendly technologies are especially important. According to him, New Zealand has every chance to attract such investments.
