Netherlands called for forcing refugees from Ukraine to return to their homeland

The leader of the Dutch far-right Freedom Party, Geert Wilders, urged not to extend the residence and work permits for Ukrainian refugees in the EU, so that Ukrainians who are liable for military service will be forced to return to their homeland, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Dutch News portal

According to media reports, Mr. Wilders said that ‘the term of temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees, giving them the right to live and work in the European Union, either should not be extended later than March 2025, or should be ended earlier’.

As the politician explained, this will force Ukrainians, in particular men, to return to Ukraine to ‘rebuild their country’. He pointed out that the Netherlands is ‘full to the brim’ and cannot afford to keep even more refugees.
