Nazaruk: need to use market protection tools has significantly increased for Belarus’ enterprises
Belarusian enterprises have significantly increased the need to use tools to protect their own market – as stated today by Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Nazaruk during a practice-oriented seminar for Belarusian enterprises on the application of measures to protect the internal market and measures of customs and tariff regulation in the EAEU
“In the conditions of mutual sanctions and restrictions with Western countries, when Western brands have left or reduced their presence, it would seem that there are all conditions for increasing sales of our products in the Belarusian and EAEU markets,” said the official.
However, our enterprises are faced with aggressive entry into markets, primarily from the ‘far arc’ countries. In recent time, we have received information about a significant increase in competition from manufacturers of this region from Belarusian enterprises in the machine building, household appliances, and fiberglass.
Thus, the need to use market protection tools has increased significantly, informed Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister.
The seminar was organised by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry jointly with the Eurasian Economic Commission at the Atlant enterprise, bringing together representatives of over 70 Belarusian enterprises and organisations. Last year, a similar event was held via video conference.
During the seminar, Belarusian commodity producers were told about the features of preparing initiative proposals in the field of customs tariff regulation and applications for protective investigations. The seminar also discussed issues of temporary reduction of import customs duty rates of the Unified Customs Tariff and the application of tariff benefits to reduce the cost of raw materials that are not produced in the EAEU member states and belong to the category of critical import goods.
